Ice Age Jersey

It might be hard believe in this unusually mild and soggy winter, but Jersey was a very different place during the last ice age, and a fun and fascinating new exhibition shows us exactly what life was like at that time. For much of the time Jersey wasn’t even an island, just one of several hills in a broad grassy plain, overlooking an enormous river system. Evidence of those times is still to be found if you know where to look but an easier way to picture Jersey as it was then is to visit the Ice Age Jersey exhibition at the Jersey Museum.

There, you can ‘meet’ the inhabitants of ice age Jersey, the mammoth-hunting Neanderthal people who were here long before modern humans arrived and get a clear idea of how they lived through periods of enormous climatic change.

Jersey museum is always an interesting and entertaining place to visit and this latest exhibition is proving very popular. It continues until the end of 2016.

Adult admission is £9.30, with concessions for children, students and pensioners. Contact Jersey Heritage on 01534 633300 or email info@jerseyheritage.org to find out how you can visit the museum and many more Jersey Heritage attractions at a significant discount.
